What is the internet?
The internet is a global computer network, consisting of many different private, commercial, educational and governmental networks. It enables computers of all kinds to directly and transparently communicate and share data, information, and various services throughout the world. Because of its design and availability, many people and organizations consider being connected to the internet essential, as it provides a relatively cheap, reliable global platform to create, find, share, and store information. It's ease of use has meant a rise in collaboration, and cooperation among countless diverse communities which has benefited many of the sciences.
